Fruit Batteries to Power up LED Light

Recently, Britain's leading photographer, Caleb Charland, launched his new work "Back to Light", using fruits and vegetables as batteries to power up LED light. The photographs are amazing, demonstrating basic scientific principles with most common things around us. "Back to Light" is inspired by a classic school test, potato battery. "By inserting a galvanized nail into one side of a potato and a copper wire in the other side a small electrical current is generated. The utter simplicity of this electrical phenomenon is endlessly fascinating for me." Charland said.  The experimental subjects are not only potatoes, but also other kinds of fruits or vegetables. He once made a temporary battery with a lime, or supplied power via a pile of apples, or even powered up LED light by just an orange. The major breakthrough is titania nanoparticles, which is invisible to eyes, are applied for this design. These particles are used for scattering light, which is similar to the principle of sunlight through the Earth's atmosphere. Some people might think it's "unnecessary" to do so; but this process is simulated Reylight scattering, thus make the light appears more "real". In fact, "natural light" helps relieve depression and reduce stress. But people seldom access to it. Therefore, this technology helps you to enjoy daylight at home anytime of day or night. Although currently there is no related products for sale, Paolo di...
