Recently, Britain's leading photographer, Caleb Charland, launched his new work "Back to Light", using fruits and vegetables as batteries to power up LED light. The photographs are amazing, demonstrating basic scientific principles with most common things around us. "Back to Light" is inspired by a classic school test, potato battery. "By inserting a galvanized nail into one side of a potato and a copper wire in the other side a small electrical current is generated. The utter simplicity of this electrical phenomenon is endlessly fascinating for me." Charland said. The experimental subjects are not only potatoes, but also other kinds of fruits or vegetables. He once made a temporary battery with a lime, or supplied power via a pile of apples, or even powered up LED light by just an orange.
